An endless conveyer chain 2 is driven at a number of different points by sprockets 3, 4, 5, 6, all driven from a common drive member through the intermediary of means adapted automatically to ensure that the sprockets each transmit an equal force to the chain. Fig. 1 shows the common drive provided by a motor 9 through a clutch 11 and gearing including differential devices 16, 21, 22. Fig. 5 shows the common drive provided by a pump 43 driving hydraulic motor units 42 interconnected to allow fluid from one to pass to the others.
