Abstract
613,794. Endless belt conveyers. HART, J., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. July 3, 1946, No. 19941. [Class 78 (i)] In driving mechanisms the return run of the belt 1 is passed over a guide roller 2, round the driving drum 3, over a roller 4 carried by pivoted arms 5, beneath a heavy floating roller 16 and over guide rollers 7, 9 to the working run 10. The loop formed between the rollers 4, 7 in conjunction with the roller 16 forms an automatic device for compensating variations in the length of the belt, and the roller 16 increases the pressure of the roller 4 on the belt. The roller 16 is free on a shaft 14 which has secured thereto at each end a gear 12 meshing with a rack 13. A second loop co-operating with a roller 8 may be formed between the rollers 7, 9.
