Abstract
405,231. Drying fabrics. SEABROOK' H., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London.- (Gessner Akt.-Ges., E. ; Aue, Erzgebirge, Germany.) Nov. 3, 1933, No. 30610. [Class 34 (i).] Material to be carried through a drying- apparatus while suspended in loops from the cross-bars of an endless conveyer is fed continuously to the conveyer by means of a feed roller which travels in a circular path with a movement dependent on the movement of the conveyer. In the form shown, a conveyer 3 with cross-bars 4 is actuated by a driving wheel 5 on a shaft 7. Above the conveyer is a rotatable arm 10 mounted on the bearing of a shaft 9 and carrying a feed roller 11. To rotate the arm 10, there is fixed thereto an elliptical toothed wheel 12 meshing with another elliptical toothed wheel 13 on a shaft 14 driven from the shaft 7 ; thus the feed roller is carried in a circular path and subjected to alternate acceleration and retardation. To rotate the feed roller about its own axis, it is provided with a pinion 17 meshing with a gear wheel 18 on the shaft 9, and the shaft is driven in either direction at regulatable speed by a chain and sprocket wheel, so that the rate of feed of the web to the conveyer and consequently the length of the loops can be regulated. A hinged flap 20 abuts against the web 22 on each bar successively, and is rocked as indicated in broken lines.
