Abstract
605,353. Inductances. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. Dec. 20, 1945, No. 34501. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1940. [Class 38 (ii)] The desired frequency difference between the tuning of local oscillator and the preliminary circuits of a superheterodyne receiver is maintained throughout the range by making the oscillator coil and its core longer than the other coils and cores; the oscillator core is adjustable as to its initial position and still extends into its coil when the others are entirely withdrawn. As shown, coils 1 and 2 having cores 4 and 5 serve to tune two high-frequency circuits of a superheterodyne receiver while coil 3 with core 6 tunes the oscillator. The frequency difference between the oscillator circuit and the other circuits is mainly determined by the nature of the cores and the larger diameter of the oscillator coil 3. Tracking is further improved by making core 6 longer than the other cores, and arranging for core 6 to enter coil 3 before the other cores enter their coils. Core 6 is adjustably mounted on the common operating bar 7.
