Abstract
542,395. Inductances. MULLARD RADIO VALVE CO., Ltd., and EAGLESFIELD, C. C. Aug. 14, 1940, No. 13001. [Class 38 (ii)] A variable inductance for tuning short-wave radio receivers comprises a spiral or helical coil 7 one end of which is attached to a support 3 while the other end is secured to a spring blade 2 which extends the coil to an extent determined by adjustment of a screw 8. Insulation 5 is inserted between the end of the screw and a cup 4 on the spring blade. The coil may be used without a condenser to form an oscillatory circuit, the necessary capacity being provided by the coil itself together with the associated valve capacities and stray capacities.
