Abstract
341,485. Valve amplifying and detecting circuits. GRAMOPHONE CO., Ltd., and ATKINS, H. C., 32, Yeading Lane, both in Hayes, Middlesex. Oct. 16, 1929, No. 31480. [Class 40 (v).] In a wireless receiver with a tuned input circuit 3, 6 and a volume control in the form of a potential divider 1 in the aerial circuit, a small condenser 4 is connected effectively in series between the input circuit and the capacity to earth 7 of the aerial, to reduce the detuning effect on the input circuit produced by the alteration in the effective capacity across the input circuit caused by the adjustment of the volume control. As shown, the condenser is connected between the movable contact on the potential divider and one end of the primary winding 2 of a high-frequency transformer, the secondary winding of which forms part of the input circuit of the first valve 5 of the set. According to a modification the condenser is connected between the potential divider and a point on an inductance coil in the grid circuit of the first valve (Fig. 2, not shown).
