Abstract

465,593. High-frequency transformers. TYERS, P. D. Oct. 3, 1935, No. 27280. [Class 38 (ii)] In a high-frequency transformer comprising relatively movable coils 2, 3 for varying the coupling between tuned circuits in a radio receiver, the coils, and if desired the condensers associated with them, are enclosed in a screening casing, and a screen 5 comprising a number of wires or rods is placed between the coils in order to ensure that variation in coupling is not accompanied by any substantial change in stray capacities. Coupling is varied by rotating one coil about the casing axis so that it remains substantially symmetrically disposed with respect to its screening compartment. The coils may comprise the whole of the inductance of their respective oscillatory circuits, Fig. 3, or a part thereof, Fig. 4.
