Abstract
530,615. Superheterodyne wireless receivers. KRAMOLIN, L. L. DE. May 24, 1939, No. 15608/40. Convention date, May 25, 1938. Divided out of 531,612. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver of the single-span type a high frequency circuit has a multi-peaked resonance curve which is shifted through the frequency spectrum as the local oscillator frequency is varied. In this way the frequency range of the signal tuned circuit, which may be the input circuit is extended and the signal noise ratio is improved. As shown the input noise ratio is improved. As shown the input and local oscillator circuits are tuned by coils S1, S2 saturated by a magnet M as described in Specification 531,612 and the core of the input inductance may have a higher permeability than the core of the local oscillator inductance. Alternatively current- or voltagedependent tuning means as described in Specifications 449,240, 451,097, [Group XXXVI], 451,098, 455,190, 470,945, 473,384, 481,062, 490,058, 510,862, 510,941, 511,031, [Group XXXV], 513,626 and 517,966, [Group XXXV], may be used. The input coupling includes a low pass filter and connection is made to a tapping on the tuning coil S1 to produce a double humped resonance curve, and sufficient input selectivity may be obtained to allow the use of an intermediate frequency as low as 468 kc. An auxiliary adjusting capacity may be provided in the input to the frequency changer valve and the aerial may include rejector circuits tuned to the frequency of the local transmitters. Automatic volume control is provided to equalise variations in input amplitude as the received frequency moves progressively along the multi-peaked resonance curve and the wave-range may be subdivided into a plurality of smaller subranges with separate indicators in a remote control system as described in Specification 530,616, [Group XXXVI].
