Abstract
531,612. Wireless receiving circuits. KRAMOLIN, L. L. DE. May 24, 1939, No. 15467. Convention date, May 25, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] A single-span superheterodyne receiver, which is tuned by the cores of coils S1, S2 being partly saturated by a magnet M, has the D.C. supply for the magnet M, the oscillator O and tuning indicator valve A, effectively decoupled from that supplying the rest of the receiver. Preferably separate power units NG1, NG2 are used, but a single power unit with each load connected to half a two-way rectifier can be used. The aerial is coupled to the first valve through a tuned coupling S1 so as to reduce the noise to signal ratio. This coupling has a double hump characteristic as described in Specification 530,615. The intermediate frequency amplifier ZF comprises double valves, Fig. 2 (not shown) in which as regards carrier currents the anode of the first part is connected to the cathode of the second part, and tuned couplings in the cathode leads to give negative feed-back. The automatic volume control acts upon the grids of all but the first valve of the intermediate amplifier. Tuning is effected by varying the current in coil M from a remote controller, as described in Specification 530,616, [Group XXXVI]. Automatic tuning correction is derived from the device AA and is applied to an auxiliary winding on the magnet M.
