Abstract

564,444. Automatic volume control. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and HITCHCOX, G. I. March 25, 1943, No. 4865. [Class 40 (v)] A radio receiver having a high-frequency amplifier or intermediate frequency amplifier subjected to AVC voltages is provided with an audio-frequency amplifier and an output stage and feed-back between the output stage and the audio-frequency arranged to be adjusted by the changes in current fed to the highfrequency amplifier produced by the AVC voltage. The Figure shows an intermediate frequency amplifier IFA, the anode current of which controls the saturation of a transformer P<11>, S<11>, All provided in the feed-back coupling between the output stage AV and the audio amplifier stage IAF. Associated with the feed-back transformer may be an inductance I and a condenser C<11> so that the feed-back is heaviest for the lower audio-frequencies for large amounts of feed-back. The auxiliary winding included in the circuit of the intermediate frequency amplifier is shunted by a condenser C <1>.
