Abstract

497,830. Superheterodyne circuits for wireless reception. SCHAUB, G. VON. March 20, 1937, No. 8269. Convention date, March 21, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] In a superheterodyne receiver using a plurality of frequency changing stages, the input stage is structurally separate from the remainder of the receiver and is arranged as a movable remotely controlled part and comprises a variably tuned oscillator and fixed tuning elements switched in as the oscillator is progressively tuned. In a tuning range of 150 to 1500 kcs., the input circuit is preferably subdivided into three parts which are switched by the oscillator tuning member. Fig. 1 shows an oscillator tuned circuit C1, L3 and switches S1, S2 which connect an inductance L2 and a condenser C5 in parallel with the aerial inductance L1. Push-button switches may be provided to insert fixed condensers in the oscillator circuit to tune to selected stations. Fig. 2 shows the second detector V2, the input coupling to which is varied by resistance R to control volume. By the use of a series resistance R1 and arranging the capacitive and inductive couplings in opposition a complete control of volume may be secured even with screened and long connecting leads.
