462,460. Wireless receiving-apparatus. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd., and SHACKELL, A. July 8, 1936, No. 19458/35. Addition to 443,423. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A radio-receiver is provided with interchangeable impedance units which comprise or complete the tuned circuits of the receiver, the latter being fixedtuned to desired stations when plugged into sockets on the receiver. Figs. 1 and 2 show respectively the socket and impedance unit, the latter comprising two condensers 10 separated by a screen 13. The spring legs 12 engage the sockets 4 which are also screened at 7 ; a spring-contact 3 connects the unit case 9 to the socket 1. Fig. 4 shows a number of single units 1 arranged round a circular stud switch 15, 16 by which they may be selectively switched into circuit. Accurate tuning may be automatically effected by an arrangement such as described in the parent Specification, the invention being specially applicable to a superheterodyne receiver in which the intermediate frequency is higher than the highest received frequency, the only tuning variable being the circuit of the local oscillator.
