Abstract

524,373. Wireless receiving sets. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. May 13, 1939, No. 14370. Convention date, May 16, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio receiver tuned by the selection of pre-set reactances, each pre-set :reactance is made up from an adjustable reactance and one or more common fixed reactances of the same sign. The input and oscillator circuits of the octode mixer 1 may be tuned by variable condensers 24, 28 selected by switches 21, 25, or by pre-set condensers selected by switches 31 and 35, 41 and 45, 51 and 55. Trimmer condensers 33, 37, 43, 47, 53, 57, are connected to springs of groups 32 and 36, 42 and 46, 52 and 56 and may be selected upon operation of one of the press buttons 30, 40, 50 to tune the receiver. Connected to other springs of the same groups are metal strips 34, 38, 44, 48, 54, 58 which are arranged in an insulated manner over metal rails 61, 62, 71, 72 connected to earth through fixed condensers 63, 64, 73, 74. By making screw connections between the rails and strips as at 65, 75, 66, 76 selected fixed condensers may be connected in parallel with the trimmer condensers to alter the range of adjustment.
