Abstract

598,131. Lubricating. BALLAMY, L. M. Aug. 30, 1945, No. 22393. [Class 7 (ii)] The casing of a blower is connected to the crankcase, so that when the engine is running with, the blower out of action, oil mist is drawn in and the driving mechanism is lubricated. A Rootes blower is shown in which the rotors 14, 15 are connected by gearing 21, 22, 23, 24 and driven through a clutch 20. The casing is connected by piping 34, 35 with a crankcase 32 through a non-return valve 33, or a valve mechanically actuated with the clutch. The application is also described to a rotary vane blower connected to the crankcase by a passage extending axially through the rotor.
