Abstract
519,210. Driving charging pumps. FOX, F. Sept. 17, 1933, No. 27170. [Class 7 (ii)] In a supercharged engine for aircraft a centrifugal pump 12 is disposed at the end of the crankshaft remote from the air screw the shaft 8 of which drives the pump through a layshaft 14'and change two-speed gear 19, 20, 22, 10. There is a clutch in each speed train and the clutch in the lower speed train may be of the free-wheel type so as to be automatically operative when the higher-speed clutch is disengaged.
