Abstract

530,478. Auxiliary-air admission devices. DELCO-REMY & HYATT, Ltd., and COLMER, A. June 26, 1939, No. 18494. [Class 7 (ii)] The admission of extra air to the induction pipe a is controlled by two valves g, j in series, the valve g being opened by engine suction and the valve being completely opened when a critical engine speed is reached. As shown, the valves are ball valves and the valve j is actuated by an electromagnet k connected to an engine-driven generator. The air may be drawn through an air filter e or from the engine sump or valve chamber. The Provisional Specification states also that the valve j may be actuated from an engine-driven governor.
