Abstract
888,925. Centrifugal separators. PORSCHE, F. A. E. May 16, 1960 [May 30, 1959], No. 17141/60. Class 23. [Also in Groups XXVII and XXXIV] A shaft 9 perpendicular to and driven by bevel gears 7, 8 from the camshaft 3, itself gear-driven from the crankshaft 1, powers a lubricating pump 16 and a centrifugal oil filter 22 on the shaft 27 of the driven pump gear 15. The pump 16 draws sump oil via a pipe 36, 37 and delivers it to the filter 22 via ducts 38, 39. The filter 22 comprises a rotary casing 23 and vanes 24 and has ducts 41 up which the purified oil passes to the interior of the shaft 27 via which it is fed to an engine lubricating line 44. The filter 22 is housed in a crankcase recess having side walls 34.
