Abstract

369,033. Lubricating internal-combustion engines. POTEZ, H. C. A., Meaulte, Somme, France. April 17, 1931, No. 11413. Convention date, April 18, 1930. [Class 12 (ii).] In an engine having horizontally-opposed cylinders 2 and an exhaust-driven turbine 3 and a supercharging blower 4, driven by shafts 23, 28, lubricant passes from the main shaft by passages 38, 39, 32 to passages 34 in the shafts 23, 28 and thence by annular passages 35 to the sump. It is also fed, preferably by a separate pump and passages 42, 41 to the bearings of shaft 23. Oil from the compresser bearings collects in a chamber 60, whence it is removed by another pump through a pipe 45.
