Abstract
324,836. Rateau, A. C. E. Feb. 26, 1929. Working-fluid supply. - In engines wherein the charge is supplied by a compressor d driven by a turbine actuated by the engine exhaust, the exhaust is in two or more parts and is all used in the same stage of the turbine c. As shown the first part of the exhaust passes from a valvecontrolled outlet f to the outer b<1> of two concentric receivers; the second part flows from terminal ports o to the inner receiver b<2>. The time of opening of the outlet f is variable to ensure sufficient scavenging at low loads. The first part may leave the cylinder through piston controlled ports. In an eight cylinder engine the cylinders may be divided into two groups as described in Specification 182,786 exhaust from the groups alternating to prevent interference. Specification 179,926 also is referred to.
