Abstract
686,951. Shaft couplings.. INGERSOLLRAND CO. April 11, 1951 [Sept. 6, 1950], No. 8431/51. Class 80 (ii). [Also in Groups XXVI and XXVIII] In a rotary compressor the low-pressure compressor shaft 45 is driven from the engine shaft 46 by means of a flywheel 44 which acts as a coupling. A flexible shaft 16 couples the lowpressure shaft 45 and the high-pressure shaft 14 by means of splines 73 at one end and splines 76 at the remote end of the shaft 16. A passage 99 is provided for lubricating oil which flows to bearings by way of gaps 75 outside the splines 76.
