858,697. Rotary engines. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Nov. 11, 1958 [Nov. 20, 1957], No. 36174/58. Class 110(2). A compressed-air engine 11 has a gyratory piston 45 pivoted to a reciprocating piston 18 of a compressor 10, engine and compressor receiving compressed air from a common source 14. The compressor delivers the air at a much higher pressure by way of a spring-loaded valve 25 having casing grooves 27 around its edges leading to ducts 17 and a delivery 20. Roller bearings 44 are provided between a sleeve 41, around an eccentric 39, and a further sleeve 42 inside the engine piston 45. Counterweights 48 are secured to a shaft 37 carrying the eccentric 39. The air discharged through a port 35 passes under a hood 52 to cool the compressor.
