Abstract
636,782. Rotary compressors. NICHOLS, T. W. Jan. 14, 1948, No. 1103. [Class 110(ii)] Sealing oil for a compressor 1, which is supplied by the delivery pressure acting on the oil in a container 12, is cut off by a valve 17 when the compressor stops, to prevent its being flooded. When the compressor is running delivery pressure acts through a duct 20 and, preferably together with a spring 18, forces down the piston valve 17, and sealing oil flows from a pipe 15 into a chamber 19 and is fed to the shaft bearings 5 and into the compressor working chamber. Delivery air, freed from oil, passes out through a port 13. The valve shown may be replaced by a ball valve.
