Abstract
563,309. Air compressors; recovering oil. FREEMAN, W. R., and FITES, C. B. Feb. 3, 1943, No. 1814. [Class 8 (i)] A rotary compressor 1 is supplied with oil from a reservoir 9 through a pipe 11 leading to a slot in the rotor and delivers compressed air through the reservoir, by a pipe which may be fitted with a coarse oil separator 18, to an oil separator 22 with a delivery pipe 38. The compressor has an unloading valve 54, Fig. 3, subject to the compressed air supplied by a pipe 58 leading from separator 22, and acting on a piston 56 on the valve stem. This valve closes the filtered air inlet from a pipe 50 to a pipe 51 having a check valve 74, at a certain. pressure, and suction caused by the continued pump operation opens a valve 69 and connects the inlet pipe 50 through a passage 71 and pipe 72 with the reservoir. The excess pressure in the separator 22 then opens a valve 45 allowing oil from the separator to pass back to the reservoir through a bore 26 and pipe 20.
