Abstract

587,284. Air pumps. FREEMAN, W. R. Aug. 21, 1944, No. 15928. [Class 8 (i)] Air is drawn into cylinder 4 'through a valve 12 while a port 20 in the piston 8 is closed by a slide valve 21 actuated by the piston driving means ; during the return stroke, valve 21 opens the port 20 and the other piston 10 compresses the air in the spaces on both sides of piston 8 and delivers it through valve 29. The pump may operate with a single cylinder only, the air in the crank chamber being compressed during the stroke which draws in air to the cylinder 4.
