Abstract
626,791. Reciprocating pumps. CARTER, A., and SLADE, G. May 30, 1947, No. 14359. [Class 102(i)] A hand operated pump comprises two cylinders 1, 3 of different sizes, fitted with suction and delivery valves and in which pistons 14 and 23 respectively reciprocate. The piston 23 has a valve 24 that is pressed into a seat 18 by a spring 25. At low pressures the pistons move together and deliver liquid but at a predetermined pressure, the force on the piston 23 raises the valve 24 from its seat and liquid is byepassed through passages 21, 20 and 22 and the piston 23 only continues to deliver.
