Abstract

681,138. Reciprocating pumps. McGEE, L. T. Jan. 24, 1951. No. 1843/51. Class 102 (i) In a reciprocating pump, the piston is in the form of a ball 13 loaded by a spring 12 and reciprocated, e.g., by a race 26 mounted on an eccentric 25. During the suction stroke, the ball 13 leaves the cylinder permitting the inflow of liquid to be pumped. Fig. 1 shows several cylinders 6' arranged radially around the eccentric and each piston delivers past a valve 16 to an annular groove 27 that is connected to the outlet 28. The interior of the casing is connected to suction through the inlet 8.
