604,305. Removing oil-leakage from pistons. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 8, 1945, No. 20287. Convention date, Aug. 17, 1944. [Class 122 (i)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In an injection pump comprising a cylinder 7, Fig. 1, and a piston 13 formed with a helical timing groove 16, an annular groove 44 is formed in the piston below the lowest part of the helical groove 16 and adapted to be connected by a.passage 45, Fig. 3, to a low pressure chamber 43 outside the cylinder 7. The chamber 43 communicates with the inlet to the pump to return thereto oil which leaks between the piston and cylinder and escapes along the passage 45 which is arranged at about 90 degrees to the inlet and byepass ports of the cylinder and entirely out of contact with the helical groove 16.
