Abstract
745,578. Double-acting reciprocating pumps. MYARD, F. E. Sept. 1, 1953 [Sept. 4, 1952], No. 24187/53. Class 102(1). A double-acting pump has a piston 1 that is rotated by a pulley 2 and reciprocated by bearing pads 3, 3<SP>1</SP> engaging inclined surfaces 9, 9<SP>1</SP> on the ends of the cylinder. The bearing pads are mounted to rotate about axes Y-Y, Y<SP>1</SP>-Y<SP>1</SP>, that are parallel to the axis X-X of the piston. The inclinations of the ends of the cylinder may be as shown or may be parallel or more than one bearing pad may be carried at each end of the piston, each pad being a different distance from the axis X-X, and co-operating with inclined surfaces having different inclinations. The pistons may be provided with passages 11, 11<SP>1</SP> co-operating with inlet and delivery ports e.g. 12, 12<SP>1</SP> formed in the cylinder wall.
