Abstract

752,546. Reciprocating compressors. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Nov. 22, 1954 [March 1, 1954], No. 33698/54. Class 8(1). A four stage compressor comprises four cylinders 11, 12, 13, 14 the first and final stage cylinders 11, 14 being vertically aligned, and the cylinders 12, 13 horizontally disposed, the axes of the cylinders 11, 12, 14 meeting on the axis of rotation of the drive shaft 15 and the axis of the cylinder 13 extending above the shaft axis. The piston 17 is slidably connected to a cam 21 carried on an eccentric 16 on the shaft 15 and having parallel faces 24, 25 engaged by cam followers 27, 28 rigid with the pistons 18, 19 and a face 26 at right angles engaged by a follower 29 rigid with the piston 20.
