[Class 8 (i)] A refrigerating compressor comprises a pair of pistons reciprocated from a crank-shaft in bores in a cylinder block and discharging compressed refrigerant through plate valves' 13 in the head the refrigerant enters the crank-case 3 through ports 14 controlled by the pistons and is drawn into the cylinders through inlet conduits 16 connecting the crank-case with cylinder ports 15 covered by the pistons at the tops of their strokes.
