Abstract

741,100. Compressors. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 30, 1953 [Oct. 2, 1952], No. 8798/53. Class 8(1). A compressor is regulated by means of a bypass valve 27 controlling an aperture 22 in a valve plate 4, connecting the discharge space in the cylinder head and the suction manifold 23. The valve 27 operates in a cylinder 26 connected to a control pipe 30 which is connected to a three-way valve 35 connected by a pipe 36 to a control valve 37 which by means of ball valves 42, 47 operated in one direction by a spring 50 and in the other by a piston 39 subjected to the pressure in the lubricating system, connects the pipe 36 either to suction or delivery pressure. The connection 51 to the valve 35 is subjected to suction pressure. The cylinder head space communicates with the discharge manifold 15 through a valve 16. The suction manifold 23, which may be common to several cylinders communicates through ports 9 in the cylinder, chambers 8 in the piston, inlet valve 11 on the piston head with the compression space. The cylinder discharges through valve 13 to the cylinder head space.
