Abstract

847,680. Engine valve gear. PILLIN Ltd., J. B., and SPINKS, S. A. E. Nov. 11, 1957, No. 35133/57. Class 122 (2). [Also in Group XXVIII] A double-acting bucket pump is driven by an air motor comprising a piston 38 subjected on the lower side to constant pressure which pressure passes through ports 22 and annulus 21 to the upper side of a closuremember 54 which supports an inlet valve 67 controlling flow of air through passages 65 to the upper side of the piston 38 and connected to an exhaust valve 63 controlling the flow of air from the upper side of the piston 38 through a passage 56 to atmosphere; the valves 63, 67 are actuated through a lost-motion connection by the piston 38. The connection normally operates through springs 44, 49 but should these not be strong enough to operate the valve when fully compressed the piston directly engages the valve.
