Abstract
746,847. Diaphragm pumps. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1954 [June 12, 1953], No. 16225/53. Class 102(1). A diaphragm pump comprises a diaphragm 25 moved on its delivery stroke by gas pressure controlled by a groove 4 in a rotary valve 1 and the exhaust is controlled by a groove 5. The inlet and exhaust valves 24, 26 are in the form of diaphragms which are moved to close passages 31, 32 and 34, 35 by the admission of gas under pressure controlled by a groove 3 on the rotary valve whilst the exhaust is controlled by a groove 6. The rotary valve is driven by an independent source of power and' the pressure gas supply passes through a reducing valve 20 to an axial passage 13 connected to the grooves 3, 4 by radial passages 14, 15. The grooves 5, 6 are connected by radial passages 18, 17 to an axial passage 16 leading to atmosphere. Restricted passages 36, 37, 38 are provided in the pressure gas connection to diaphragms 24, 25, 26 to prevent surge.
