Abstract
1,047,022. Air compressors. ATLAS COPCO A.B. July 1, 1963 [July 6, 1962], No. 25976/63. Heading F1N. [Also in Division G3] In a positive displacement compressor, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown) delivering air through a conduit 15 and a check valve 19 to a receiver 16, an unloading valve 25 responsive to the pressure in the receiver 16 is operative to allow air to be pumped from the compression chamber 32 through a bore 42 and a pipe 43 back into the compressor intake passage 5. An adjustable regulating valve, Fig. 1a (not shown), connected to the receiver 16 through a connection 70 is set to blow at a predetermined pressure whereby a pipe 39 normally connected through the regulating valve to atmosphere, is supplied with air from the receiver. The air supplied to the pipe 39 passes to a passage 38 and an annular space 37 in the unloading valve 25 to act on the large piston portion 26 of a spring loaded valve member 29 which is thereby unseated to communicate the compression chamber 32 with the intake passage 5. The compressor is of the two-stage reciprocating type having high and low pressure cylinders 3, 2 interconnected by an air cooled conduit 11. In another embodiment a throttle valve disposed in the intake passage 5 is closed by air supplied from the pipe 39.
