Abstract

1,099,893. Compressors. BRODRENE GRAM A. S. March 10, 1966 [March 11, 1965], No. 10642/66. Heading F1N. A multi-cylinder two-stage compressor comprises high and low-pressure cylinders supported by a housing 2 and a partition 3 together defining therebetween a first stage suction chamber, surrounding the cylinders, and communicating through passages (not shown) in the housing 2 with suction passages 7, 8 in the low-pressure cylinder or cylinders (not shown), the suction passages 7, 8 of the high-pressure cylinder or cylinders shown, receiving gas compressed in the low-pressure cylinder(s) through pipes 24 connected to a first stage discharge conduit. The first stage discharge conduit is of similar construction to the second stage discharge conduit 18. Each cylinder includes a ring 12 and an insert member 13, the latter being supported by a spring 14 compressible in the event of an excess pressure occurring in the cylinder. Each ring 12 has an annular recess containing a suction valve ring 10 adapted to co-operate with the passages 7, 8, and each insert member 13 has a discharge valve ring 15 controlling discharge passages 17 in the insert member 13 leading to the second stage discharge conduit 18.
