Abstract

754,454. Reciprocating compressors. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Feb. 9, 1954 [June 26, 1953], No. 3845/54. Class 8(1). [Also in Group XXIX] A compressor comprises a cylinder 2 and a head 3 and a valve plate 4 which has inlet ports 6 and outlet ports 5, lying on diameters substantially at right angles, which communicate with suction chambers 121 and delivery chamber 12 respectively and are closed by valve reeds 8, 7 the latter being loaded by a spring 16. The valve reeds are located by dowels 19 which pass through the spring 16, the reed 7, the plate 4 and engage notches 9 in the reed 8 and finally rest on the head 21 of a bolt 14 which supports the valve plate 4 from the head 3.
