1429497 Reciprocating pumps K H THOMAS [trading as LANGEN & CO] 26 April 1973 [29 April 1972] 19942/73 Heading F1A A variable delivery pump comprises one or more pairs of oppositely-acting pistons 11, 12, the pumping chambers 13, 14 of the or each pair being connected to respective accumulator chambers 24, 25 separated by a reciprocable piston 27, the stroke of which is adjustable manually or automatically between zero and a maximum to provide respectively maximum and zero delivery of the pump. As shown, the stroke of piston 27 is manually adjusted by a threaded stop 31. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the stroke is adjusted automatically in response to delivery pressure by a spring-loaded stop (37) formed with a piston (39) subjected to the pump delivery pressure. The movement of piston 27 is damped by pins 33, 34 entering recesses 35, 36. Pump pistons 11, 12 are reciprocated by a crankpin 5 and have inlet passages 15, 16 for connecting pumping chambers 13, 14 with inlet chamber 8. Delivery is effected via valves 17, 18 and outlet P.
