Abstract

788,478. Swash plate pumps. SUNDIN, E. O. Oct. 5, 1955 [Oct. 5, 1954], No. 28325/55. Class 102(1). A pump comprises a stationary cylinder block 1 and a drive shaft 3 which passes through the block and is journalled in bearings 15, 28. The block 1 has a number of cylinder bores 4 parallel to the shaft 3 in which are slidably mounted pistons 5, 6 which are pressed apart by springs 8. The heads of the pistons 5 bear on a thrust bearing 13 carried by a swash plate 9 keyed to the shaft 3. Similarly the pistons 6 bear on a thrust bearing 24 carried by a swash plate 22 keyed to the shaft 3. Each cylinder 4 communicates through inlet and outlet valves 44 with inlet chamber 33 and outlet chamber 34 which chambers are formed in rings 31, 32 surrounding the block 1 and held in place against a shoulder 37 by a ring nut 36. Each ring 31, 32 has an outlet the position of which is angularly adjustable by rotating the ring and by removing the rings the valves are accessible.
