Abstract

588,451. Revotving-cylinder reciprocating pumps. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO., Ltd., (Lapointe Machine Tool Co.). Jan. 2, 1945, No. 157. [Class 102 (i)] In a revolving cylinder reciprocating pump, the cylinder block 20 rotates on a stationary cylindrical valve 17 that has a transverse member 60 separating the suction port from the delivery port; a further transverse member 65 is provided to increase the rigidity of the valve. The cylinder block is supported by the roller bearing 22 and segmental bearing members 24 that abut a bearing ring 23 held in position by washers 28 each of which also retain a cylinder liner 27 in place. Sealing of the valve ports is effected by a pair of rings 71 placed on each side of the port and bridged by a strip 70 inserted in grooves in the transverse member 60. Each strip 70 is wider than each of the ports 31 connected to the cylinders and the surfaces that separate the ports 31. The pistons 35 are connected by rods 36 to the transmission plate. 40 that is supported by roller bearings 42, 43. The drive from the shaft 14 is transmitted to the plate 40 by a universal joint comprising a transverse, pin 56 passing through an enlargement 57 of the shaft and supported in roller bearings 58 carried by a cage 54 that has another pair of roller bearings 53 supporting pins 50 carried by the plate 40. The stroke of the pump is varied by a pinion engaging a rack 47. Specification 302,158, [Class 102 (i)], is referred to.
