Abstract

928,587. Swash plate pumps or motors. COUNCIL FOR SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH. April 19, 1960 [April 16, 1959; May 1, 1959], Nos. 12920/59 and 14890/59. Class 102(1). [Also in Group XXIX] The slippers 17 of a swash plate pump or motor each have an oilway 73, leading from the pressure side 56 of the piston 54 via constricted oil metering ducts 74a, b, c to mutually isolated recesses 75a, b, c, and an annular recess 76 adjacent the working faces 81 and 82-84 of the slipper at its leading and trailing edges and open to atmosphere through radial notches 77-79. The working face of the swash plate, Fig. 1 (not shown), is recessed to accommodate an annular slipper bearing pad locked by a dowel and supporting an annular slipper plate 16. In a radial cylinder pump or motor, Fig. 5 (not shown), each slipper has a working surface coacting with an eccentric and lubricated by oil from a working space-above a pump piston, which oil is fed through two metered plugs to two shouldered cavities opening into shallow recesses in the working surface. Provisional Specification describes a swash plate embodiment in which a single axial oil metering duct opens into a larger bore which communicate with a central recess in the slipper. Specification 893,848 is referred to.
