Abstract
813,396. Radial cylinder reciprocating pumps. KLOPP, F. Feb. 13, 1956 [March 29, 1955], No. 4474/56. Class 102(1). In a radial cylinder pump a plurality of star shaped arranged pistons such as 22 and 23 form a piston group arranged in a cylinder housing 27 which rotates about a central control plug 2 containing suction pressure channels 30 and 31. An even number of piston groups in separate housings such as 3 and 27 are so arranged that each two adjacent groups are displaced by 180 degrees to one another and the separate housings are directly adjacent to each other and are coupled together by couplings 28 which prevent relative rotation between the housing, but allows relative displacement in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the control plug 2. The pistons such as 22 and 23 are urged outward by centrifugal force into contact with running ring 19<SP>1</SP> arranged in a bearing in a drilling 12. The drillings such as 12 are arranged eccentric to the axis of the control plug to provide the necessary displacement between the groups and these eccentricities are adjustable to vary the piston stroke. A gear pump 79, 80 supplies liquid to passages in the pump which provide a constant liquid to the cylinders at the end of their suction stroke prior to moving to their discharge stroke.
