Abstract

1332881 Fuel injection pumps USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL 5 Jan 1972 366/72 Heading F1A In a fuel injection pump having at least two pistons 6 reciprocable in radial cylinders 4, 5 in a rotary block 2, the piston reciprocations are effected by a pair of mutually angularly adjustable cam rings 12, 14 each of which actuates at least one piston. The angular adjustment of the cam rings varies the quantity delivered. In the embodiment shown two pairs of opposed pistons are provided, the axis of one piston pair being arranged at right angles to the axis of the other piston pair but in a different plane. The spaces between the pistons are in communication with an axial duct 26 connected to radial passages 29, 31 which sequentially register, respectively, with delivery lines 30 and suction lines 32. In other embodiments having only two opposed pistons, the axes thereof lie in the same or a different plane. With the pistons in the same plane one cam ring is in two parts positioned either side of the other cam ring, Fig. 5 (not shown).
