Abstract

1,259,801. Rotary I.C. engines. R. BERTONI Jan.23, 1969 [Jan.26, 1968], No.3826/69. Heading F1F. A rotary I.C. engine has part-spherical pistons 4, 5 fixed to rotary shafts 11, 12 and pivotally coupled to each other by a hinge 7, 8, 9, a combustion chamber 6 being formed in each piston. Gear-wheels 15, 16 carry bearings 13, 14 for the shafts and are coupled by gears (not shown) to revolve in opposite directions. Internallymeshing gear-wheels 23, 24 effect nutation of the pistons in opposite directions at different speeds. Inlet, outlet and scavenging conduits 25, 26, 27 are provided as shown. A spark-plug is inserted at 28.
