Abstract

1,263,081. Hydrostatic transmission. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 11 April, 1969 [29 Jan., 1968], No. 4412/68. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] A pump or motor, Fig. 1, comprises a rotary cylinder block 15 having pistons 14 working in cylinders in the block and connected by universal couplings 13 to a member 11 rotatable about a fixed axis 23, the inclination of the block 15 being adjustable by angular rotation of a ported part 18 having an inclined axis of rotation 20 and an off-set inclined surface 17 abutting the block. The block is mounted for rotation on a spindle 19 on the part 18, which part is provided with kidney-shaped cylinder inlet and outlet parts. Rotation of the part 18 alters both the piston's stroke and the port timing. In Fig. 12, a motor and pump constructed as in Fig. 1 are mounted together to form a hydrostatic transmission. A common ported part 33 is provided, the part having inclined surfaces 32, 47 engaging the ends of cylinder blocks 29, 45. The part 33 is rotatable by longitudinal movement of a rack 53 engaging teeth on the part 33, whereby simultaneous stroke and part timing adjustment of the motor and pump are effected. Leakage from the cylinders passes through passages 51, 52.
