Abstract
1385702 Reciprocating fluid machines CHAMBERLAIN INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Jan 1972 [29 Jan 1971] 3532/71 Heading F1A [Also in Division G3] The shaft 20 of a radial cylinder hydraulic reciprocating piston pump or motor has an eccentric in the form of an annulus 23 whose eccentricity is adjustable by two hydraulically operated piston and cylinder units 24, 27 and 25, 28. The arrangement shown has the cylinders 27, 28 formed in the shaft 20 with the pistons 24, 25 slidable therein to move the annulus 23. In an alternative, Fig. 8 (not shown), the shaft is provided with the pistons and the annulus with the cylinders. Passages 42, 43 in the shaft 20 communicate working fluid to and from the cylinders 27, 28, as the pressurization thereof being controlled by a manual or servo-controlled valve. If, as shown, the shaft rotates, the passages communicate with respective peripheral grooves in permanent communication with passages 37, 39 in a stationary part 39. The shaft is provided with a pair of flat faces 30 which contact the flat surfaces of a pair of segment members 31 keyed to the inside of the annulus. It is stated that the shaft is particularly intended for use in the motors described in Specifications 1085232 and 886923 which are described briefly with respect to Figs. 4 and 9 (not shown).
