1490888 Fuel injection pumps ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 23 Jan 1975 [24 Jan 1974] 2944/75 Heading F1A In a fuel injection pump comprising a cylinder 3 containing a rotary and reciprocatory piston 2, the cylinder having a plurality of delivery passages 5 each being supplied with fuel when a longitudinal groove 26 in the piston 2 aligns therewith, during or after each delivery passage 5 is connected to the longitudinal groove 26 a throttled connection is established between the passage 5 and the longitudinal groove 26 or a communicating annular groove 25. The throttled connection may be a longitudinal groove 42 cut in the piston and connected to the annular groove 25 or, Fig. 4 (not shown), a groove (42') extending circumferentially and connected to the longitudinal groove 26. Alternatively the grooves may be replaced by similarly connected and disposed bores in the piston. In other embodiments each delivery passage 5 has a groove or bore in the cylnder instead of the piston, each groove of bore acting as the throttled connection.
