Abstract

710,611. Liquid-ring pumps. SIEMEN, 0., and HINSCH, J. July 9, 1952 [July 9, 1951], No. 17290/52. Class 110(1) In a liquid-ring air pump having two or more stages, additional air can. be admitted after the first stage. This prevents noise due to evaporation, and subsequent condensation of liquid when the pump is working under high vacuum. In the embodiment shown, the additional air is admitted to an intermediate space 4 between impellers 3, 5 through a spring-loaded non-return valve 7. which opens when a predetermined vacuum has been attained. Valve 7 may be replaced by an adjustable bleed valve. Alternatively, the additional air can be taken from the second stage through a duct leading to the space 4.
