Abstract
697,748. Axial-flow blowers and pumps. VOITH GES., J. M. Feb. 8, 1951 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 3076/51. Class 110(i) In an axial-flow blower or pump having an undivided inlet, a cylindrical ring 7 is mounted between and coaxial with the impeller 5 and an inlet guide wheel 6. The ring,' which has a length approximately equal to, or smaller than, the axial extension of the impeller at or near its periphery, prevents instability and reduces noise at low output. In a multi-stage blower or pump, a ring 7 may be provided at each stage. It is stated to be known to provide an annular partition ahead of the inlet guide wheel for the purpose of preventing instability.
