Abstract
816,536. Axial-flow fans. BAHCO A.B. July 3, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21092/57. Class 110 (1). An axial-flow fan comprises a ring 1 forming the fan housing and intended for fitting the fan to a wall, the inner periphery 8 of the ring widening, over the extent of the impeller blades, in a curved fashion from the fan outlet 6 towards the inlet at least up to a point level with the leading edges of the blades, and the blade tips 13 corresponding in shape to the curvature of the ring. This construction reduces noise. The radius of curvature of the inner periphery 8 is at least 0.1 D and preferably is between 0.1 D and 0.3 D, where D is the diameter of the outlet 6. The radius of curvature of the front part 9 of the ring 1 is at least 0.02 D and preferably is between 0.02 D and 0.06 D. The largest diameter of the impeller hub 11 is between 0.4 D and 0.8 D. The inner periphery 8 is parallel to the fan shaft at the outlet 6, while a tangent to the part 9 in at least one point is prependicular to the shaft.
