1476164 Axial-flow compressors GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE AG 16 Aug 1974 [12 Oct 1973] 36080/74 Heading F1C In an axial-flow compressor, an aerodynamicallyprofiled ring 2 is disposed upstream of a rotor blade row and is arranged to define with the compressor casing 3 an annular duct 4 which converges in the downstream direction. Moreover, it defines with the rotor hub an annular duct which diverges in the downstream direction. The provision of the ring is said to reduce or overcome the effects of rotating stall and increase compressor discharge pressure.
